Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: November 1-6

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Louisa Wilson (Williamsville Cross Country) The Williamsville freshman was our top finisher at Detweiller Park on Saturday. She finished third in the girls 1A race with a time of 17:34.48 to earn All-State honors.

Ja’Kyan Shanklin (Athens Football) Shanklin had another four touchdown performance this weekend against Sesser-Valier. He also broke two single season school records in the second round game. He now holds the record single season record for most rushing touchdowns with 25 and most rushing yards with 1,957.

Makenna Cox (Lutheran High Volleyball) Lutheran is heading to state! The Lady Saders picked up a super sectional victory over Waterloo Gibault on Friday. Cox has been a contributor all season long and had a great showing in the super sectional win.

Emma Best (Rochester Swimming) Girls swimming sectionals were held on Saturday with state coming up this weekend. Best finished first and qualified for state in the 200 yard freestyle at the Edwardsville sectional with a time of 2:00.66.

J’veon Bardwell (SHG Football) The Cyclones picked up a round two win on the road this weekend. Bardwell tipped a pass early that lead to an interception. He also picked up a touchdown in the third as SHG rolled to the 42-7 victory.

Peyton Bergschneider (Pleasant Plains Volleyball) The Cardinals had a huge comeback to earn a trip to state at the Clinton super sectional on Friday. Down 16-9 in the third set Bergschneider came up with some essential kills to give Plains the 25-23 victory.

Brandt Henderson (U-High Cross Country) The Pioneers took home fourth at the state cross country meet this weekend. Henderson was U-High’s top finisher in 29th with a time of 15:46.57.

Hunter Moser (Williamsville Football) The Bullets picked up a round two victory over Fairfield on Saturday. The senior rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown, had 43 yards receiving and returned a punt for a 77 yard touchdown in the victory.

Mara Walker (U-High Swimming) The Pioneers had a good showing at the Normal West sectional on Saturday. Walker finished first in two individual events, the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard backstroke. She also was a part of two first place relay teams, the 200 yard medley and 400 yard freestyle.

Johnny Neal (Rochester Football) The Rockets return home in the quarterfinals after a round two road victory at Paris this weekend. Neal was a big contributor on defense as Rochester picked up the 55-20 win. The heart and soul of the Rocket defense seemed to be in the backfield milliseconds after the snap against Tigers and has been the leading tackler for Steve Beucker’s defense all season long.
