The Athens’ ground game was in mid-season form as they totaled 240 total yards led by Ja’Kyan Shanklin’s 106 and two touchdowns. QB Will Gordon tossed two touchdowns for Athens but his strip and score in the first quarter set the tone for the Warriors the rest of the way. Sophomore Lucas Bixby stepped in for an injured Joey Meisman and threw for 152 yards and a touchdown for New Berlin. Athens walked out of Pretzel Field with a 47-22 win as they moved to 1-0.
