Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: State Edition

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Ben Hartl (Springfield High Baseball) The Senators are state champs! Springfield High had a two comeback wins in at state finals and Hartl had game tying hits in both. Against St. Laurence, in the semifinal, he had two hits and two RBIs plus 4 2/3 innings work on the mound allowing no runs and striking out four. In the championship, Hartl had two hits including a bases clearing triple to tie the game at seven before scoring the winning run on a Joseph Crum RBI.

Charlie Gentle (Maroa Forsyth Track and Field) The freshmen took first at the Sangamo conference meet and finished the season third at state last week in pole vault. Gentle set a new personal record of 13′ 10.25″ at the state meet.

Colleen Zeibert (Rochester Track and Field) From cross country to track the Sophomore racked up wins all year long. She finished off the track season with a third place finish in the 800m at the 2A track meet. She finished with a time of 2:13.99 which was a personal record. She finished with a new PR in the 1600m was she finished fifth at state.

Jack Bach (U-High Baseball) The Pioneers finished third in the 2A state finals on Friday. In the third place game, Bach hit a two run homer in the top of the first as the Pioneers got out to an early lead. He finished with two hits, two walks and two runs in that game against the Cyclones.

Sarah Byrd (Springfield High Track and Field) She has been setting record and picking up wins all season from City to the CS8 conference meet. Byrd finished off her senior season with a second place finish in shot put at state with a throw of 13.56m.

Colton Naffziger (U-High Track and Field) Another pole vaulter on the list this week. This time for a winning the 2A state championship. Naffziger finished at 16′ 3″ which is still three inches under his PR of an impressive 16′ 6″ that he set earlier this season.

Isaiah Thompson (SHG Baseball) The Cyclones finished fourth last week at state and Thompson wrapped up his four year career as a Cyclone. He had three RBIs during the two games and also was a big contributor on defense holding down center field like he has been all season.

Ben Gilbert (Maroa Forsyth Track and Field) This Trojan had three top three finishes at state last week. Gilbert had finished second in the 200m and third in the 100m with a time of 10.99 which was a new personal record. He also finished second as a part of the 4×200 team.

Anna Barr (U-High Track and Field) The U-High Pioneers picked up a fifth place finish at state this year while Barr picked up a third place finish in the 200m with a time of 25.36 which was a personal record. She also set a new PR in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.07 for a fifth place finish and finished fourth in the 100m.

Drew Martin (Mt Pulaski Baseball) The Hilltoppers made their first trip to state last week and finished fourth. The seniors wrapped up his high school career with 2 hits and a RBI during the two state games as well as excellent defense at short.

Richie Snider (Springfield High Baseball) What’s more Prime Time then the state championship game? Springfield High found themselves down 6-0 and 7-2 in the third inning but the Senators never panicked. They brought in Richie Snider. Snider shut down Prairie Ridge, got the win and the rest is history. He pitched five innings, giving up just one hit and striking out nine. Snider stepped up big time to earn the Solons a state championship.
