The toughness that Normal U-High showed in winning their first CS8 conference title was needed again tonight as the Pioneers pulled it together in second half to fight off their intercity rivals Bloomington Central Catholic to win the Class 2A Mackinaw Regional, 54-46.
In order for U-High to their rivals for a third time this season they would need to regain their composure after losing their grip on the lead for the first time in the third quarter. Seniors Logan Christensen (17 points) and Drew Wollenschlager (12 points and 12 rebounds) would guide the Pioneers to another regional title.
The Pioneers (26-7) will head to the very loaded Beardstown Sectional next week where they will battle PORTA Wednesday night.
