It took three tries, but Lanphier finally bested CS8 champ MacArthur Tuesday night, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the Lions. After a back and forth battle in the 3A Champaign Central Sectional Semifinals, Martrice Brooks and the Lions pulled away for a 69-61 win to set up a CS8 sectional championship with Rochester Thursday night.
Quincenia Jackson had a game-high 25 points for MacArthur, while Brooks had 22 and fellow Lion Kylee Parker added 16. Taya Davis had 15 for the Generals.
