Lemont Stops Springfield High To Set Up Showdown With Glenwood

The Lemont Indians left no doubt in the opening round of the 6A playoffs that they wanted a rematch with Glenwood. Lemont (8-2) will travel to Chatham in Round Two for a rematch of last year’s opening round game after they beat Springfield High 52-14 on Saturday evening.

Lemont’s defense flexed their muscles all night in frustrating star sophomore quarterback Rashad Rochelle and the Senators high powered offense as Lemont ended Springfield’s season.

Lemont had held its opponents to under 100 points in the regular season and it showed tonight as they forced multiple sacks and fumbles to Rochelle.

Lemont QB Luke Bailey had two touchdowns runs and two touchdown passes (both to Western Michigan recruit Anthony Sambucci) to power the Lemont offense.

The Springfield Senators season comes to an end with a record of 7-3.
