Springfield capitalized on their best chance in the first half as Carter Formea netted a chip shot to give SHS a 1-0 lead over Champaign Central. Judd Wagner would find a way to tie the game late, but it was Wolf Brethorst who would game it for the Senators.
Wolf’s winner with 42 seconds left downed CCHS for the second straight year in that fashion as Springfield moved on to the sectional final this Friday against Morton.
