Mason Williams pitched a complete game shutout to pick up the win for Pleaant Plains in a 5-0 victory over Carlinville in the 2A Pleasant Plains sectional semifinal on Wednesday evening.
Joey Lee led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run for the Cardinals and after they tacked on two more, Carlinville brought in their ace Kyle Dixon to try and stop the Plains’ bats. He did until after the lightning delay in the fifth inning, when Plains added a run in the sixth and seventh inning for extra insurance.
Pleasant Plains will play New Berlin on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the sectional crown.
