Prime Time Performer: April 9 – 14

Here are this week’s candidates for Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Mariah’s Restaurant.

Robert Williams (Springfield High Track) The Senators better get used to voting for Robert this Spring season. Williams showed just how impressive he is at the Capital City Classic against the best of the best by winning both hurdle events by over a second. Williams won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.39 and the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.49.

Mollie Morrisey (Rochester Soccer) Rochester soccer had themselves quite a week. At the beginning of the week Tessie Naumovich would’ve been a great candidate for Prime Time Performer, but then the freshman came and stole the show. Mollie Morrisey stopped three penalty kicks against SHG for a huge Rochester victory.

Joel Niermann (Plains Baseball) The busy week for Pleasant Plains baseball didn’t exactly end the way they wanted, but they picked up some quality conference wins and handed Routt their first loss. The big man at short had himself a good week at the dish. Niermann hit a home run against Routt at the Tiger Classic and drove in one of three runs against Riverton.

Drew Henrikson (Rochester Baseball) Rochester baseball is quietly flying under the radar as one of the better teams in the CS8. One of their pitcher’s impressed us on Wednesday with a one hit performance through five shutout innings. Drew Henrikson is only a sophomore, but he pitches like a guy who’s seen a thing or two in the conference.

Josh Gray (Williamsville Baseball) Needing to rebound from a conference loss to New Berlin, the Bullets gave the ball to their ace against Maroa-Forsyth last week. Josh Gray came through with five solid innings to pick up the win against the Trojans on the road.

Caroline Jachino (Plains Track) Nothing new here…just Caroline Jachino going to another track meet and winning the long distance events. The Pana Invite is always a great measuring stick for small school track in the area and Jachino came home with two more wins. She won the 1600 (5:37.96) and the 3200 (11:52.33).

Ben Nichols (New Berlin Baseball) The Pretzels officially have our attention as a contender for the Sangamo. They beat Williamsville earlier this season and went on the road and beat Athens last week before ending their week at Busch Stadium. Ben Nichols gets the nod for PTP this week for his work on the mound and at the dish. He had a double, a walk, a single and a run scored against Athens and got the win, going two innings of work in relief.

Lucas Britenstine (North Mac Baseball) Big Sexies on the baseball field? North Mac has a reputation for their offensive lineman, but Lucas Britenstine is taking that to the diamond. Britenstine had three RBI and a home run in the Panthers’ 8-7 win over Maroa-Forsyth….”Butters” is bringing the bat to work this Spring.

Olivia Felts (Williamsville Softball) Williamsville had a busy week and plenty of worth candidates on the softball diamond for Prime Time Performer. This week, we’ll go with Olivia Felts who did a little bit of everything against Tri-Valley. Felts struck out five in a win on the mound and went two for three at the plate, with a double, a home run and 3 RBI’s.

Kate Beckemeyer (Maroa-Forsyth Softball) HOpefully we get to see Williamsville vs Maroa-Forysth on Tuesday this week, because this Sangamo matchup could decide the conference. In case you haven’t heard a lot about the Trojans…they’re really good. Kate Beckemeyer has three no-hitters this season, including last week’s against North Mac in which she struck out eleven.

Rachel Sandvos (Glenwood Softball) A tough, busy week for the Glenwood Titans softball team proved to everyone in 3A that they’re going to be a problem in the postseason. The Titans beat Edwardsville and U-High twice, including Rachel Sandvos playing hero against the Pioneers. Sandvos hit a walk off single in the seventh inning to beat U-High 6-5.
