Prime Time Performer: March 12 – 17

Here are this week’s candidates for Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Mariah’s Restaurant.

Terrion Murdix (Southeast Guard) The entire Spartans team should probably be nominated for making school history, but we’re going to select Terrion Murdix as the individual because we can’t put the whole team. The junior point guard put up 19 points, 13 rebounds, 6 steals and three assists in the semifinal against North Chicago in a dominating performance to get Southeast into the championship game. Murdix followed that up with 12 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds against Morgan Park.

Jacob Maton (Glenwood Pitcher) Our first look at the returning all state pitcher from Chatham took us all way to Edwardsville but he made it worth the drive. Jacob “Coug” Maton pitched a hitless five innings, struck out ten batters and gave up just one hit batter as the Titans pulled off the extra innings victory to start their season strong.

Brooklyn Torbeck (Lutheran High Goalie) Lutheran High soccer started the season hosting their own tournament and took full advantage of the home turf. The Crusaders won all four games to lock up their third straight Crusader Classic title with incredible defense as Brooklyn Torbeck preserved the shutout in all four games.

Molly Walter (Williamsville Softball) The Bullets opened their highly anticipated softball season in dramatic fashion, needing extras to win it. Molly Walter hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to give Williamsville a win over Stanford Olympia. Stepping up in the clutch earns you a spot in Prime Time Performer.

Hunter Williams (Riverton Baseball) How about the Hawks? Riverton baseball turned some heads in the first week of the season by beating Springfield High. Hunter Williams hit a double to drive in two runs in the seventh inning to finish off a four run rally and send the Senators home with a loss.

Ozzy Erewele (Springfield Track) Get used to seeing Ozzy’s name on the Prime Time Performer list. The senior sprinter has started her final season as a Senator with an impressive start. Erewele won the 60 meter dash, the long jump and helped the 4×400 take home first at the Normal West Indoor Invite last Wednesday. We knew she had lightning speed but now she can jump too? Ozzy is headed for a huge season.

Justin Beggs (Williamsville Baseball) The Bullets baseball team is off to a fast start, picking up some quality wins in the first week. Justin Beggs was a big reason for the victories, hitting a home run in the games against SHG and Pawnee. Beggs will be a problem for pitchers all season.
