Lincoln shot 26 percent (9-of-34) on Wednesday and still beat SHG by 40-26 in the semifinals of the 3A Rochester regional. It helped that the Railer defense held the Cyclones to 23 percent (9-of-39) from the field. Lincoln sophomore Kameron Whiteman was the only hot hand on either team. His four 3-pointers accounted for all 12 of his points and all of Lincoln’s production from behind the arc. The Railers were 4-of-15 from downtown and 18-of-28 from the free throw line.
The win sends Lincoln into a Friday night rematch with Lanphier. The Railers provided the toughest test for Lanphier on their run to a 3A state tournament last year, but fell in a heart breaker at Lober-Nika gym in the regional championship.
