For a team with just one senior on their roster, a trip to the 2A Illinois College Supersectional was an accomplishment in itself for Pleasant Plains. Not that this team, sporting a roster full of girls that won a state title in junior high, was looking for a moral victory.
Their first real run at a high school crown ended on Monday in a 54-47 loss to Eureka. The Hornets dominated on the glass, out rebounding an undersized Cardinals team 38-18. West Point bound Tessa Leman led all scorers with 29 for the Hornets. Sophomore Caroline Jachino and freshman Asya Smith paced the Cardinals with 18 and 12 respectively.
