Prime Time Performer: January 2 – 6

Here are this week’s candidates for Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Mariah’s Restaurant.

James Jones (Lanphier Guard) They didn’t want to talk to us after they beat Eisenhower, but senior James Jones still made sure they got it done against the Panthers. The do-it-all guy on this squad put up 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists against Ike.

Amir Brummett (MacArthur Guard) Both Brummetts are capable of 30 point games and on Friday, Amir needed it with Armon off the floor. Amir Brummett delivered a 30 point game against Glenwood, hitting six of nine from three-point range in the much needed victory for the Generals.

Benji Eaker (Auburn Forward) Auburn pulled off what some may consider the upset on Friday night by beating New Berlin in the Pretzel Dome. Senior scorer Benji Eaker had 15 to lead the Trojans, including a very important 6 for 6 from the stripe in the fourth quarter.

Scott O’Conner (Williamsville Forward) The Bullets continue to climb the 2A rankings with an undefeated resume heading into County this week. Different guys continue to step up into the big roles each week and on Friday night, it was Scott O’Conner doing so, pouring in 21 points against Illini Central.

Matt Bahlmann (Glenwood Guard) He only scored six points against SHG, in a game that didn’t see anyone score a ton, but his last two were most important. Matt Bahlmann helped the Titans get revenge against the Cyclones and split the weekend with two clutch free throws with just 3.6 seconds to play in overtime to lock up the Glenwood win.

Titus Cannon (Lincoln Guard) We talked about true point guards last week and how Southeast’s Terrion Murdix is probably the best in the CS8. Well, in the Apollo, it’s got to be Lincoln’s Titus Cannon. The consistent ball handler scored a team high 12 points in Lincoln’s win over Harlan, powering through much taller guys for a couple big buckets in the third quarter.

Cody Flavin (Glenwood Wrestler) Flava Flavin, our #TQT guy from a couple weeks ago returned home from the Carbondale Invite on Saturday with a heavyweight title. Cody Flavin was losing 5-0 in the title match before coming back to win 6-5.

Jared Viele (SHG Hockey) Over the past two years of us covering the LLHH, we’ve seen a few studs in Jack Healy and Brandon Hay. That next big name just might be from SHG this season in Jared Viele after he scored five goals against the Senators last week.

Noah Foreman (Riverton Wrestler) As we get through January and February inches closer, we start to know who to pay attention to on the wrestling circuit around the area. Tiverton’s Noah Foreman is one of the those guys this year, proving it last week at the Carlinville duals by winning all three of his matches in under a minute against the Cavies, SHG & QND.

Mason Muller (PORTA Forward) Over the next three seasons, you might get tired of hearing it, but Mason Muller is going to be really really good. The PORTA sophomore comes from the family tradition of Bluejay success and continues to get better and better each week. Last week, he scored 17 against Lutheran and then led the team in scoring for another win to open up the Winchester Invitational Tourney against Greenfield Northwestern.
