Riverton had gotten the best of Pleasant Plains during the regular season this year. The Hawks posted 5-2 and 2-1 wins over the Cardinals but in Saturday’s 1A regional championship at Pleasant Plains, the Cardinals won the one that mattered most.
Plains took a 3-0 lead to the half, only to watch Riverton roar back to tie it at 3-3 in the second. But just 16 seconds after the game tying goal, Joey Lee scored his second of the day to give Plains a 4-3 win.
