Wendel Burnes (Springfield High Running Back) Watch the Springfield High highlights from Saturday and it’s pretty easy to see why Wendel Burnes is on the list this week. The Senators speedy running back scored twice in the first half to help Springfield put a running clock on Eisenhower and get that fifth win. His moves on the 50 yard touchdown can also be seen in Big Nasty and Plays of the Week!

Nik Samson (Pleasant Plains Running Back) He doesn’t leave the field very often because his one of the best players in the conference on both sides of the ball. Nik Samson had 167 rushing yards and scored twice against New Berlin. He also had an interception on defense. The Cardinals were able to establish the run game on the back of Samson and had the ball for 11 more game minutes than the Pretzels.

Cayden Muench (Auburn Running Back) A muddy field was able to slow down Destin Chance and PORTA’s game plan kept them in the game. The Trojans got a fourth quarter touchdown from their versatile running back Cayden Muench to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Devin Foy (Glenwood Wide Receiver) The Titans had a tough time pulling away from Jacksonville on Friday night but still found a way to win. The most impressive highlight from Glenwood in Week 7 was a 99 yard touchdown reception from Devin Foy in the second quarter. Foy’s concentration on the deep ball from Luke Lehnen and then the ability to shed a tackler and turn on the gas to beat the rest of the defense earn him a spot on the list this week.

Riley Lewis (Rochester Wide Receiver) Yes, Nic Baker is incredible. He told us a couple weeks ago though that his receivers this year make him look good, so we’ll shine a light on one of them after Leonard Bowl VIII. Riley Lewis caught two touchdown passes and put up 99 receiving yards against the Cyclones. A solid trio of Eddington, Reed and Lewis give Baker plenty of options.

Hunter Thompson (Williamsville Wide Receiver) We didn’t get a chance to road trip to Pittsfield on Friday, but the Bullets came back with another big win to stay undefeated. Wide receiver Hunter Thompson had himself quite a day, scoring once on the ground and once through the air, totaling 153 yards.

Brandon Odam (Taylorville Quarterback) A tough night offensively for the Tornadoes found themselves in a defensive battle with the Green Wave. Junior quarterback Brandon Odam came through with two rushing touchdowns and 122 yards on the ground in Taylorville’s 16-6 win.

Charles Molitoris (Athens Running Back) A steady dose of the ground game powered the Warriors to another win. Drayton Davis and Nic Laird have gotten plenty of headlines this season, so it’s Charles Molitoris’ turn. The powerful tailback rushed for 187 yards and two scores against North Mac in Week 7.

Kelby Phillips (Springfield High Forward) Kelby Phillips will be remembered in the record books for a long time at Springfield High school. The SIUE bound senior scored four times against Eisenhower to set a new school record for single season goals scored with 39 so far, that also brough his career total to over the century mark. Phillips also added to his IHSA assist record against Rochester as the Senators locked up at least a share of the CS8 title.

Evan Paoni (Glenwood Midfielder) The Glenwood Titans still have one big conference game left but last week moved a step closer to their share of a CS8 title. The facilitator in the middle has been Evan Paoni this season and he proved that against Jacksonville with three assists and one goal. Paoni also picked up two more assists on Saturday in a Titan win over Normal Community.

Titus Cannon (Lincoln Running Back) Entering the last two weeks of the football regular season, the Lincoln Railsplitters are still alive in the playoff hunt. All three touchdowns Lincoln scored in their Week 7 win came from Titus Cannon, who rushed for 128 yards and had 44 receiving yards. The move to the Apollo has been good for the Railers on the gridiron.

Katie Tanner (Auburn Golfer) Last week on golf courses all around the state, regional championships were crowned. Katie Tanner brought a regional championship and medalist honors back to Auburn. The junior shot a four over 76 at Lincoln Greens to win a 1A title.
