Second Sucks: PORTA’s Trey Hild Striving For State Title

Some may see a second place finish in the state wrestling tournament as an incredible accomplishment, but PORTA junior Trey Hild is sick of second.

“Second sucks” is what Trey Hild told Zach Kerker in an interview after losing his state title match as a sophomore for the second consecutive season.

Hild finished second his freshman year at 120 pounds in Class 1A and finished second in the state in Class 1A at 132 pounds his sophomore season.

This season, his brother Stormy made a new sign for the PORTA wrestling room to remind Trey every day of what he said.

We sit down with Trey, Stormy, their dad Davey and PORTA head wrestling coach Jeff Hill to talk about second place and about Trey’s chances this season.
