Wyatt McIntyre, who finished in fifth place in the 3200-meter at state earlier this year, finished first among the Sangamo competitors in the conference’s cross country meet at Illini Central on Tuesday. That first place finish helped lift Athens to a team title.
On the girl’s side, not enough teams in the Sangamo could field a complete team of at least five competitors, so a team title was not handed out, but Caroline Jachino of Pleasant Plains finished first individually.
