Prime Time Performers: September 19th – 24th

BIG PTP No Add

Here are this week’s candidates for Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Carson Reese (New Berlin Wide Receiver) The Pretzels are on a three game winning streak after starting the season with two losses. A sophomore star is emerging out in New Berlin and the Sangamo better take notes. Carson Reese rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown on the ground and he caught a few passes for 38 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Michael Healey (SHG Wide Receiver) Yes, there are other players on the Cyclones that can score. We know Tremayne Lee can get the job done but a wide receiver option emerged in Week 5. Michael Healey scored on the first play from scrimmage and went on to have himself quite a day. Healey hauled in six passes for 176 yards and scored on five of them.

Nic Baker & Josh Grant (Rochester Quarterbacks) Having two quarterbacks is a luxury that not many teams have. Derek Leonard has his hands full of talent and the two under center for the Rockets proved to be very accurate on Friday against the Crimsons. Nic Baker and Josh Grant combined to go 17-20 for 343 yards and five touchdowns in the air.

Kendall Bearden (North Mac Running Back) The undefeated Panthers only needed 15 points to get past their rivals. Kendall Bearden was responsible for both of North Mac’s touchdowns and then when Coach Shane Owsley decided to go for the win in regulation, he put the ball in Bearden’s hands to score the two point conversion. Bearden rushed for 115 yards against Auburn and kept their regular season winning streak alive.

Hunter Maxwell (Athens Running Back) Last season, Athens waited until Week 9 to get their fifth win of the season. This season, they’ve done things a little differently. Hunter Maxwell has helped carry his Warriors to a 5-0 start to the season. The senior tailback went for 138 yards and three scores against Pittsfield.

Jace Franklin (Williamsville Running Back) If you haven’t seen the hit that Jace Franklin laid on a defender near the goal line from Friday night, get over to Big Nasty now. But since you’re here, check out his stats from Week 5. Franklin ran for 162 yards and caught four passes for 28 yards. He found the end zone four times to help the Bullets get to 4-1.

Jubbar Cross (Glenwood Quarterback) There’s been a lot of changes for the Titans this football season. On Friday night, a change at the quarterback position proved to provide an extra spark. The junior transfer from Springfield High helped beat his former team with two passing touchdowns, while running for 93 yards and a score on the ground.

Jacob Bates (Jacksonville Forward) The Jacksonville Crimsons picked up an important win last week to stay one game behind Springfield High in the CS8 standings by beating Rochester. They needed overtime to finish off the Rockets, but Jacob Bates came through with the golden goal. Bates also set up Jacksonville’s first goal in the first half. If he can continue to produce like that, the Crimsons have a great 1-2 punch with Bates and Steven Albers up top.

Evan Wright (Springfield High Goalie) A lot of the attention goes to the guys up front for the Senators and rightfully so. Logan Willard, Nate Cheung and Kelby Phillips are top tier soccer talents, but Springfield High has someone pretty good between the pipes. Senior keeper Evan Wright is a big reason why the Solons are expected to make a deep postseason run. Wright kept Glenwood from scoring last Tuesday and kept the Senators at the top of the CS8 standings.
