Williamsville’s Season Ends Via No Hitter In Sectionals With Wild Walk Off Play

Williamsville was no hit by Beardstown's Rick Dour over eight innings in the 2A Pleasant Plains sectional final and that wasn't even the most bizarre part of Saturday's contest. The Bullets had battled to keep things even at 0-0 in the bottom of the eighth inning and John Beal, pitching in relief, appeared to have escaped a two on, two out jam with a strikeout to end the inning.

But that pitch got away from Williamsville's catcher and scooted to the backstop. The throw to first to complete the out soared over the first baseman's head and Tigers' pinch runner Andrew Flynn beat Joe Roscetti's throw from shallow right to score the game winning run.

The victory, anchored by Dour's no hitter and nine strikeouts, catapults Beardstown into Monday's LLCC Supersectional and ends Williamsville's season with a 28-6 record.
