Lanphier Makes Its Statement & Roars To Third Pekin Title In Four Years

Lanphier was eager to make a statement that it was better than the fourth seed it was granted in the Pekin Holiday Tournament and the Lions did so by winning their third Pekin Title in four years, defeating Lake Zurich 61-56.

Following the victory, Xavier Bishop and Yaakema Rose were named to the All-Tournament team. It is the fourth time that Bishop earned that honor, making him the first player ever to garner four consecutive All-Tournament team accolades. 

Bishop scored 21 points on 9-of-19 shooting to lead the Lions and Rose poured in 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting William Boles added nine points and six rebounds and Cardell McGee added seven points.

For the tournament, Bishop averaged 24.8 points per game on 47 percent shooting from the floor. Rose averaged 15.5 ppg to go along with 8.2 rebounds.
