Prime Time Performers: October 12th – 17th

Here are this week's candidates for the Antonio's Pizza Prime Time Performer. You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5pm. The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Antonio's Pizza!

Morgan Savage (Rochester golfer) The Rochester girls golf team won the state championship this weekend and Savage was the key. She also finished second place for the second straight year in the individual competition. What an excellent career for the future ISU Redbird.

Levi Slater (Williamsville Soccer) Williamsville won it’s fourth straight regional championship, thanks to the sniping shots in the second half of Levi Slater. A scoreless game became a 2-0 advantage for the Bullets in a matter of 15 minutes when Slater fired two shots from outside the 18 yard box that beat the Athens keeper and gave Coach Mitch Davidson his first regional title with the school.

Dalton Phillips & Dalton Settles (Pleasant Plains Forward & Goalie) The Daltons delivered on Saturday for Pleasant Plains as the Cardinals pulled off a huge upset, beating Lutheran High in the Riverton regional championship. Phillips scored the game’s only goal in the first half and Settles saved everything the Crusaders shot at him, preserving the shutout and sending Plains into the sectional semifinals.

Noah Pickens (Jacksonville Wide Receiver) The Crimsons crushed Lincoln on Friday night and Noah Pickens was one of Joe Brannan’s many targets. Pickens caught four passes and scored on three of them. Pickens had 75 receiving yards, with a long of 30 and found pay dirt for half of Brannan’s touchdown throws.

Jacob Cronister (Pleasant Plains Quarterback) Finally back and playing for Pleasant Plains, Jacob Cronister took control of the Cardinal offense. He threw for 304 yards, three touchdowns in the first half and Plains got their all important fifth win. In the process, he set the single season passing record for Pleasant Plains as well and it looks like he'll have at least two more weeks to add to that and maybe many more.

Mike McNicholas (Rochester Defensive Lineman) The sophomore defensive terror had himself quite a day against MacArthur. He scored a defensive touchdown on a 60 yard fumble return, had an interception that he returned for 39 yards and added five tackles. Rochester remains unbeaten and McNicholas and the Rockets will be ready to face that tough SHG O-line this week in the Leonard Bowl.

Cole Hembrough (Glenwood Quarterback) He did throw one incompletion…but we’ll give Glenwood quarterback Cole Hembrough some props anyway. The sophomore completed 10-11 passes for 141 yards and threw for four touchdowns, he also rushed for two touchdowns and led Glenwood to their most impressive win of the season. The Titans have five wins heading into their road trip to Jacksonville and if Hembrough plays as well he did against Eisenhower, the Crimsons are in trouble.

Drew Chance & Drew Points (Auburn QB-WR) The Drews delivered a huge score to put the Trojans’ best win of the season on ice Friday night. Drew Chance found Drew Points for a 55 yard touchdown and Auburn beat New Berlin for their fifth win. Points had 153 receiving yards, which is well over two-thirds of Chances’ total passing yards. Chance had three touchdowns passes and only threw four incompletions and no interceptions. The Chance to Points connection will be a key for a deep Trojan playoff run.

Devin Richardson (Athens Wide Receiver) With the season on the line, Coach Knox decided to go for it. He trusted Devin Richardson to catch the ball on the Warriors biggest play of the year. Richardson caught the two point conversion pass from Nick Hanner and Athens stayed alive, beating Williamsville in overtime. Richardson also had a 6 yard touchdown catch in the first quarter against the Bullets.

SHG Offensive Line – John Fischer, Doug Maroon, Sharky Martin, Brad Goldasich and Jack Clement, along with rotation guys Alex Mauntel, John Burgett and John Pempek have the thankless job of keeping Tim Brenneisen clean all year, while creating holes guys like Sam Sergent, Tristan Blair and Tremayne Lee. SHG’s offensive line paved the way for five first half rushing touchdowns, while giving Timmy time to find Albert O and Sam Bonansinga for two passing touchdowns against Southeast and ensure a second half running clock. There you have it boys. You're names are in print.

Pawnee’s Offensive Line– The Indians rushed for 474 yards in their 50-0 win over Bunker Hill to clinch a share of the Prairie State crown. Austin Galloway can’t be the Prime Time Performer every week and even though he led Pawnee offense in yards, we’ll give some love to the offensive line who allowed him to do so this week. Michael West, William Bartolomucci, Austin Padfield, Matt Gordon, Evan Roberts and Noah Neisler get the nod.

Reggie Dickerson (Lanphier Running Back) The Lanphier Lions beat Southeast and Springfield High to claim the Superintendent’s Cup this season. Reggie Dickerson is a big reason why Lanphier picked up their third win of the year Friday night. The bruising running back powered his way past the Senators with 210 yards and one score to set the tone for the big win.

Tyler Gist (Taylorville Running Back) Taylorville clinched their first outright conference title in over 30 yards and remained perfect on the season with a huge win at Mattoon. The ground and pound run game worked against the Wave and that was led by Tyler Gist. The Tornado running back ran for 152 yards, scored three rushing touchdowns and caught a 34 yard touchdown pass.

Josh Gabriel (Riverton Running Back) The Hawks got their second win of the season and it was Josh Gabriel who got them there. With less than seven minutes to go, Gabriel scored the game winning touchdowns, which was his his third of the day. Gabriel ran for 113 yards and Riverton edged out Pittsfield.

Asa Donaldson (North Mac Running Back) We watch plenty of football here at Channel1450 and it’s now officially week nine. When Zach Kerker says it’s the most impressive run he’s seen, it deserves a Prime Time Performer nomination. Asa Donaldson powered his way to a 48 yard score in the third quarter to tie the game up and North Mac went on to beat Chester 30-21 to stay perfect on the season. Donaldson rushed for 142 yards against Chester.
