We caught up with Sacred Heart-Griffin senior Avery Andrews on Monday before practice after he announced his commitment to play football at Western Illinois University on Saturday, August 15.

Andrews commits to the division one Western University as a defensive back for the Leathernecks just two weeks before his senior season kicks off and the Cyclones look to three-peat.

As a member of the SHG defense last season, Andrews made 22 solo tackles, 45 assisted tackles, had two interceptions, one recovered fumble and one defensive touchdown.

The 6’1” 190 pound defensive back says Western got in the recruitment process early and he got more and more comfortable with them as time went on.
