Springfield High was rewarded a free kick for a hand ball just outside the Rochester box with 17 minutes left in the first half and Luke Owsley buried it. The Senators held the Rockets scoreless and that goal stood as Springfield High beat Rochester 1-0 to win the 2A Rochester regional championship.
The Senators advance to the 2A Maroa-Forysth sectional where they play Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. against the winner of Mahomet-Seymour and Mattoon.
