Hayden Nelson got it done on the ground and in the air for the Fighting Scots offense and the Monmouth defense won the turnover battle to beat Illinois College 45-13 on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville.
Nelson threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two more to lead the Monmouth offense, while the defense came up with pick six to end the first half, an 85 yard momentum-changing play from Lamar Watson to give the Fighting Scots a 28-6 halftime lead.
