Tuscola Takes State Berth From Pleasant Plains In Wild, Walk Off Fashion

Heartbreak doesn’t seem to sum up the emotion for Pleasant Plains enough. Tuscola scored a run on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to beat the Cardinals 2-1 in the 2A Lincoln Land super sectional on Monday night.

Pleasant Plains led 1-0 after a Carter Weiters RBI in the second inning and Giuseppe Mattera held the Warriors off the board until the bottom of the sixth when Brayden VonLanken came through with a RBI single to tie it up.

The Warriors put two on in the bottom of the sixth and Joel Niermann was able to relief Mattera and get two outs before an errant throw allowed the game winning run to score in walk off fashion.
