Joey Lee’s Late Inning 3-Run Bomb Gives Pleasant Plains Come From Behind Regional Title And Dave Greer Win No. 700

Pleasant Plains used a pair of two out base hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit against New Berlin in Saturday’s 2A regional championship. An inning later, with two on and two outs, Joey Lee cranked a three-run home run that gave the Cardinals their first lead of the game and put them three outs from a win.

Sepp Mattera entered with two on and no outs in the seventh to record the final three outs and the save. Cardinals’ starter TJ Painter struck out 12 over six plus innings. The victory was career win no. 700 for Cardinals head coach Dave Greer.

Pleasant Plains will play Williamsville on Wednesday at 6:30 in the 2A Pleasant Plains sectional semifinals.
