Cardinals and Titans Play To An Extra Innings Tie…Sort Of

The record books will show a 4-4 tie between Glenwood and Pleasant Plains on Monday afternoon. We’re here to show you exactly what happened and how, technically, it was a tie but Todd Fowler’s three run double in the top of the eighth inning shouldn’t be forgotten.

Glenwood took a four run lead in the top of the second inning as Plains left six men on base in the first two innings. Addison Ruot and Giuseppe Mattera each had two run base knocks to send the game tied at 4 into the seventh inning. A weather delay lasted 15 minutes after the top of the eighth inning in which Fowler’s three run double gave the Titans a 7-4 lead, but since the game was called before the Cardinals got an at bat in the bottom of the eighth inning, the rules say the top of the eighth technically never happened.
