Ali Haesele got it done from both sides on Thursday afternoon. The UIS pitcher pitched a five inning shutout and hit a two run bomb as the Prairie Stars pounded Saginaw Valley State 9-0 in the opening round of the Division 2 softball Midwest 2 regional.
Erin Stroup and Morgan Edwards also had big days at the plate for UIS, who will play UMSL at 11 a.m. on Friday for a spot in the title game on Saturday.
