Werries Walks It Off For Glenwood, Drew Detmers Picks Up First Win

Kyle Werries hit a walk off double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Glenwood a 6-5 win, their second in as many days against SHG.

SHG took a commanding 5-0 lead into the fifth inning after scoring twice in the first and three times in the third inning. Glenwood brought in sophomore Drew Detmers, younger brother of last year’s ace Reid Detmers, who’s now pitching at Louisville to try and mount a comeback. RBI’s from Kyle Werries, Graham Bender, Nolan Rooney and Todd Fowler would make it 5-4 after five and then Rooney would drive in Bender in the sixth to tie it up. Werries came up with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh and sent one to the wall in left center to win it for the Titans, a day after they came back from down 2-0 in the sixth to beat the Cyclones on Tuesday evening.

Drew Detmers gets the win as the Titans move to 4-0 and 2-0 in CS8 play.
