After striking out nine and giving up two runs, Jacob Maton’s day on the mound was done. Glenwood’s ace came up to bat with a runner on the top of the sixth and got himself off the hook for the loss with a two run home run. Graham Bender drove in a run in the top of the seventh to give Glenwood a 3-2 win over SHG, spoiling the great pitching performance from Will Elvers.
Elvers and Sean Dunbar drove in the Cyclones’ runs off Maton in the third and fourth innings respectively.
SHG travels to Chatham to play Glenwood on Wednesday afternoon at the park, first pitch set for 4:30 p.m.
