Pleasant Plains came into Athens as one of the hottest teams in Central Illinois, the Warriors threw cold water on Plains’s hot streak as Athens used its physicality and defense to pull away over the Cardinals, 52-37.
Nic Laird lead all scorers with 16 while senior Drayton Davis added 11 for the Warriors but it was Athens defense that sealed the deal for the Warriors. Athens held Plains to just 14 points in the second half and frustrated the Cardinals with their physical play.
