It was familiar faces taking center stage on Saturday morning in the 1A Quincy Cross Country Regional at South Park in Quincy. Pleasant Plains’ Caroline Jachino took first overall for the girls with a time of 19:15 while Athens’ Wyatt McIntyre finished first for the boys with a time of 15:15, a South Park record.
In the girls’ race Williamsville took first with 47, as Liberty and Springfield Lutheran took second and third with 75 and 81, respectively. Athens, PORTA, Plains, Lutheran, and Williamsville’s teams all qualified for Sectionals for the girls.
For the boys, Athens finished first with 36, with Williamsville clocking in at second with 59 as QND finished third with 111. Auburn, Williamsville and Athens were all team qualifiers for Sectionals.
After the race, Athens’ Wyatt McIntyre spoke about committing to University of Illinois.
