Prime Time Performer: September 4th – 9th

Here are this week’s candidates for Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Mariah’s Restaurant.

Noah Tisdale (Athens Defense) Athens has only given up a total of 28 points in three weeks, so we think it’s time to give the Warrior defense some credit. One of the first people you notice is junior Noah Tisdale, who is physically intimidating at the 1A level. Tisdale had six solo tackles on Friday and two sacks for a loss of 15 yards.

Jake Mullink (North Mac Quarterback) Everyone thinks of North Mac as a run-heavy team. Duel threat Jake Mullink could possibly change that perception. The junior QB had 138 yards in the air and 150 on the ground. He threw for a touchdown and ran for two.

Luke Lehnen (Glenwood Quarterback) Watch out record books. If Luke Lehnen continues on this pace, the Glenwood football program will have a lot of his highlights over the next three years. Lehnen threw for 470 yards and six, yes, six touchdowns in Week 3.

Ben Reinert (Plains Quarterback) The most exciting game in terms of highlights on Friday was out in Auburn, where Ben Reinert and Destin Chance put on a show. The Cardinals quarterback threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns. The most impressive thing he did was on the game winning drive, orchestrating the run game to eat up the clock and even picked up a 4th and 16 with his legs.

Skylor Caruso (Rochester Defense) We’re trying a new thing this week where we don’t include Nic Baker in Prime Time Performer. The Rocket defense delivered one of the best performances in Week 3, limiting the Southeast offense to just 2 total passing yards and zero first downs in the air. One of the leaders on that side of the ball is Skylor Caruso who had three tackles, including one for a loss and he caused a fumble.

TJ Ater (Williamsville Wide Receiver) Yes, Justice Ferrier probably deserves to be back on the list again. The Williamsville quarterback has to have someone to throw to though. Joe Mitchell and Hunter Thompson have had great seasons so far, but on Friday night it was TJ Ater who emerged. Ater had five catches for 189 yards and two touchdowns.

Sam Sweetland (SHG Quarterback) All the focus has been on Tremayne Lee and Brian Adams. Both running backs were out in Week 3, so junior quarterback Sam Sweetland had to step up. 387 passing yards and four touchdowns later, the Cyclones won the home opener.

Jett Gay (Glenwood soccer) The Glenwood Titans continue to impress on the soccer pitch with their big group of seniors, tough defense and multiple scoring options. The offense, when run through midfielder Jett Gay, has become pretty dangerous. Number 9 had a hat trick against Williamsville last week, but when he’s on the field, you can tell he’s much more than a goal scorer.

Renee Abernathy (SHG volleyball) The Cyclones suffered their first loss of the season last week, but they’re still undefeated in CS8 play. Whenever SHG needs a big kill, they look to Renee Abernathy. The lefty had eight kills in loss to Normal Community and eight kills against U-High.

T.J. Painter (Plains Golfer) We know he’s not afraid of the big stage on the baseball diamond and apparently that goes for the golf course too. Plains’ T.J. Painter needed a playoff to win the Sangamo conference golf tournament last week, but he birdied the first hole to beat PORTA’s Ben Baker. Painter shot a 77 at Sambolee golf course to help the Cardinals bring home the conference crown.
