Nick Maton was walking around a mall in San Diego with his brother, Phil, who pitches for the Padres when he got the call that he’d be the Philadelphia Phillies’ selection at 203 overall in the seventh round of the MLB Draft this week. Maton said that he will sign a deal with the Phillies, instead of going to Mizzou.
This past season with the Lincoln Land Loggers, Maton hit .408, while belting eight home runs, along with 13 doubles and 46 RBIs.
Maton graduated from Chatham Glenwood High School in 2015.
