A Disappointing Finish: Lanphier Squanders Late Lead To Finish Fourth In The State


 

Lanphier led by five with under three minutes to go in the third place game at the state tournament, but Bloomington closed the game on a 13-2 run to sink the Lions, 62-56. With the defeat, Lanphier finishes fourth in the state. The Lions finished fourth in 2012 as well.

Yaakema Rose ended his career with a career high 26 points and eight rebounds. Aundrae Williams chipped in with 12 points and Cardell McGee added 10.

The Lions hot just 35 percent from the floor. Bloomington connected on 51 percent of its field goals. The Purple Raiders were led by 6-foot-6 sophomore, Chris Payton, who scored 14 points and pulled down 17 rebounds.
