Rematch On Deck: Rochester Hands Chicago Marshall Its First Loss Of The Year To Set Up Championship Rematch With Morton


 

The Rochester Rockets are headed to a state championship for the second time in three years. The Rockets (32-3) handed Chicago Marshall (32-1) its first loss of the season, 46-35 in the 3A state semifinals on Friday at Redbird Arena.

The Rockets advance to play Morton (33-2) in the class 3A state championship on Saturday at 12:45. Rochester and Morton met in the 2015 state title, with the Potters prevailing. Morton defeated Simeon, 56-41 earlier in the day. The Potters are in search of their third consecutive state championship.

Angela Perry led the Rockets with 18 points and nine rebounds. Aubrey Magro added 11 points and four assists. Madison Faulkner and Lyric Boone scored 10 and five points, respectively.

The Rockets handed out 15 assists on 19 field goals and shot 19-of-40 from the floor.
