Rochester is on to the state tournament for the second time in three years. The Rockets defeated Civic Memorial, 44-39 in the UIS Super Sectional and will face undefeated Chicago Marshall on Friday at 12:45.
The Rockets were down for 29 of the games 32 minutes, including a nine point second half deficit but came back thanks to defense and free throws down the stretch.,
Civic Memorial’s star forward, Allie Troeckler picked up her fourth foul midway through the third quarter and had to sit for about eight minutes, which gave Rochester momentum, paving the way for the Rockets’ comeback.
Madison Faulkner and Angela Perry both scored 11 points and Aubrey Magro scored eight points. Troeckler still finished with a game high 26 points.
