Baylee Smith found the back of the net in the third minute and the 61st minute to help Rochester advance to the 2A state title game with a 2-0 victory over Sycamore.
The Rockets will play Deerfield on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at North Central College in Naperville in the 2A state championship. A victory would give Rochester back-to-back state championships in somewhat unique fashion.
Rochester won the 1A state title in 2015 but got bumped up to the 2A level this season because it was one student above the cut line.
