Rochester Gets Just Enough Against Stellar Normal West Keeper To Earn State Bid

It felt like Rochester might have been capable of more than a 2-1 victory over Normal West in Tuesday's 2A UIS supersectional but when a goal keeper turns in a perfomance like Wildcats' freshman Bekah Nielsen did, you take your 2-1 win and you start packing your bags for state.

Nielsen was stellar in net, allowing just two goals within minutes of each other in the first half, after turning away an assault from the Rockets' offense to start the game. Rochester Keeper Maddie Gleeson was her usual steady self and picked up the win as Rochester punched their ticket to state for the third consecutive season and their first time in Class 2A.
