19!? Weaver Gets 19 Of 21 Outs Via The K As Auburn Beats QND In Regional Final

An Auburn win over QND in Saturday's 2A New Berlin regional final almost certainly hinged on a brilliant outing from senior southpaw Tristan Weaver. It turns out, "brilliant" may not have actually done justice to the performance Weaver turned in on Saturday as the Trojans' ace picked up 19 of his 21 outs via strikeout as Auburn beat the Raiders 4-1.

Weaver recorded the first eight outs of the game via the strikeout before South Carolina bound Joey Polak broke up a perfect game with a solo home run to right field. Auburn answered in the top of the fourth, though, as Peyton Weiss singled home Tai Haney to knot the score at 1-1.

Weaver held QND in check from that point forward and his offense continued to build a case around him. In the top of the sixth, Cayden Muench scored on a ball up the middle that the Raiders nearly turned for a 6-4-3 double play. Ben Johnson barely beat the throw to first to allow the go ahead run to cross. An inning later, Brady Dowson provided the insurance. The senior hit his first ever home run, to run the lead to 4-1.

Auburn will play Williamsville on Wednesday at 7pm at the Pleasant Plains sectional.
